Camping Trip at Stonehenge & a Haunted Pub

(Jimmy sporting my sunglasses!)

This is part two of mine and Jimmy’s trip down South!

Once we left Gloucester, we drove another hour or two to a campsite 5 minutes from Stonehenge.

There was plenty room to park Betsy (our car) and set up our tent.

Yes, our few days featured lots of ‘camping’ food: noodles, beans and sausages and porridge!

On our first evening we headed to Stonehenge so Jimmy could take photos at sunset. The unfortunate thing is that you can’t get anywhere near it at that time of day. It’s very well fenced and patrolled. Instead, we had to walk down a main road and wait it out in the grass to get a good view!

Once I got over the initial fear of a truck running us over, it was okay.

A fruit scone always makes things better.

The sunset definitely made the ridiculousness worth it.

Beautiful!

The next morning we were greeted by a friend while we ate breakfast.

“Play?!”

He tried to eat my food. I told him this meant we could never be friends.

That night we headed a bit further away to Avebury.

Avebury has three large stone circles dotted around the village.

They weren’t as impressive as Stonehenge, but it’s cool that you get to walk right up to them – and the sheep!

There was a while to wait for the right light for Jimmy’s photos so we chilled with a pint at the Red Lion pub, which apparently has at least five different ghosts!

Sadly, they must have been having a night off when we were there.

This Lean Journey is a travel and fitness blog about my journey around the world and my attempts to stay fit and healthy while travelling. I hope you’ll enjoy my experiences and tips, and maybe even add your own comments and advice.
